I’ve been gone for a while.

Unfortunately for me, my life kinda just blew up and the ripple effects just haven’t stopped. For those of you who follow my Instagram or Facebook pages, you will have seen a lot more than I have posted here. This is for the simple fact that it was easier to do from my phone. When I write a post directly to the blog, I have to log into my computer and get through the 500 programs that open on start. I really should fix that!

A variety of supplies for injectable medication, a significant life disruption to the author
So what has been going on?
  • I lost my day job in Feb which decreased my income significantly. I am now struggling to pay my rent and keep a roof over my head.
  • I got diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease.
  • I had to sell all of the investments that I had been fortunate enough to start, at a loss to make sure I could afford rent for one more month.
  • I got escalated to biologic treatment for my Crohn’s which now means that my immune system has been nerfed.
  • I started legal proceedings against my former employer. I won’t discuss why, just know that a lot of this was triggered by them.
  • I face the potentiality of having to rehome my dog who is my one constant companion. I am holding onto her as much as I possibly can.

As you can imagine, life has been difficult to say the least and my capacity to do much other than apply for jobs has been minimal at best. I’ve been making it through on potatoes, sarcasm and Sleep Token. I have 4 ARCs to read, I THINK which has been weighing on me. I haven’t been able to sit down and dedicate the mental capacity to them. Indie authors rely on book reviewers to get their books out there and even though one person isn’t going to matter much, it still weighs. I haven’t even been reading for my own pleasure.

On the positive side though, I am now a permanent ARC reader for Jenny Grimes who wrote Shaedes of Power. I have been assured that there will be more Farris for me to indulge in. I have assured her that, if she kills him off at the end of the series, I will throw hands. In addition, I also have the inside scoop with Celeste Sutton and her upcoming book, The Queen’s Box. While I have declined being an ARC reader for this one because of the aforementioned capacity issues, she has been super supportive of me and my blogging journey, so I want to return the favour.

So, for now, I can’t guarantee what my posting schedule will be like if my life continues this way. But I will do my best to make sure that it is as full of quality content as I can make it. As always, your time and views are well appreciated and I see every one of you, especially those of you who are return readers.
